Anthony Cooper Sr. is a dedicated and visionary leader, serving as the CEO and Founder of Focused Interruption, a pioneering organization specializing in community violence intervention and prevention in Dane County. His leadership is defined by a deep commitment to creating safer, more inclusive communities through innovative and compassionate approaches.

 

Having experienced the challenges of reentry firsthand after his incarceration in his 20s, Anthony transformed his life and dedicated himself to supporting others on their journeys toward stability and success. His own story of resilience and growth has equipped him with the empathy and insight necessary to guide individuals navigating the complexities of post-incarceration life.

 

Through Focused Interruption, Anthony has established impactful programs that provide mentorship, trauma-informed care, and direct support to survivors of violence and individuals seeking a fresh start. His leadership was instrumental in launching Dane County's first hospital-based violence prevention program, offering immediate crisis intervention and long-term support to those affected by community violence.

 

Anthony’s dedication and expertise have earned him certifications as a Nonviolent Crisis Intervention Instructor and a Connecticut Community for Addiction Recovery Coach.  Through his work, Anthony Cooper Sr. continues to bridge divides, promote peace, and inspire others to turn adversity into opportunity. His leadership serves as a powerful reminder that everyone deserves the chance to rewrite their story.
